She was born Bonnie Lorene Ross on Nov. 16, 1938, in Bakersfield. Mrs. Meyer graduated from Amador High School in 1951, and then moved to Lodi in 1966. Bonnie Meyer She was employed by the County Office of Education in Stockton as a payroll specialist until her retirement in 2000. Following her retirement, she was a volunteer for the Animal Friends Connection, the Lodi Crane Festival, and served as a driver for the Cancer Society. She taught Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church from 1967-71. She served as a Lodi Unified School District Board Trustee for 12 years, and was the recipient of the CTA Special Friend of Education Award. She was a member of the Lodi Democratic Club and attended state conventions. She served as co-chairman of the campaign that defeated the Vintage Green Initiative. She was an anti-nuclear peace activist, and was also active against the Central American War. She was a member of "Health Care For All Californians." She was awarded the lifetime athletic pass because of her support of school sports, and regularly attended highschool football and basketball games. She also enjoyed professional sports and was a Cleveland Browns Backer. Since 1989, she was a Sacramento Broadway Series subscriber. She enjoyed birding and was one of the "Lodi Ladies," where she received the Big Year Beginning Birders Award in 2001. She enjoyed traveling and took frequent trips to Hawaii. She also enjoyed spending time with her cat, Bernice. She is survived by her daughters, Terri and Stacie; and brother, Jack. A memorial no-host dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Dee Dee's Restaurant, 1170 S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Friends Connection.
