Violet Battles


Violet Battles, 75, of Acampo, died July 1 in a local hospital following a 
brief illness. She was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Red Oak, Okla.

Mrs. Battles moved to California at the age of 14 with her family. In 1944, she 
married Tommy Battles and they resided in Volcano. They relocated to Acampo in 
1951. She was a founding member of the Church of Christ in Lodi. She was a 
housewife who enjoyed children and tending to her garden. She also enjoyed 
being a caregiver.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Stafford; son, Timothy; three 
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy, in 1994.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cherokee Memorial 
Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, San Joaquin 
and Calaveras Co., 207 E. Alpine Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.

Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
