Bertha Mae Buckingham


Bertha Mae Buckingham, 85, of Lodi, died July 2 in a local convalescent 
hospital. She was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Mrs. Buckingham was a Lodi resident for 22 years. She was employed by All State 
Insurance Company as a switchboard operator for 25 years. She was a member of 
the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, painting, ceramics, and 
spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Pohlman, of Lodi; sisters, Eunice Frink 
and Ruth Farmer, both of Iowa; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Buckingham; sister, Mabel 
Hamey; and brother, Clifford Blanchard.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Evergreen Chapel of Cherokee 
Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. Interment will be private at 
Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday 
at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
