Staff Sergeant Jose Carlos Rangel 
Nov. 4, 1961 - Jan. 23, 2005



Jose Carlos Rangel was born on November 4, 1961, in San Pedro Laguaillas Naya-
rit Mexico. He passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2005, in Kuwait, at the age 
of 43. Staff Sergeant General Rangel passed away in Kuwait during a training 
drill. He lived in Ensenada, Mexico, until the age of 13, then his family moved 
to Stockton, CA. He was a graduate of Edison High School in Stockton, CA. He 
was the youngest of ten children. One of his greatest joys was serving his new 
country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 19. He 
served six years active duty. He then returned to the Valley and joined 
the California Army National Guard. He was stationed at the 1106th Aviation 
Classification Repair Activity Depot in Fresno. He left for Kuwait on December 
2, 2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, Librado and Maria G. Rangel. 
Jose Carlos Rangel was a loving and caring husband, and father. 
He is survived by his wife Noemi; and three sons. In his free time he enjoyed 
playing with his three sons, Randy age 11, Michael age 7, and Andrew age 2. He 
has two brothers, Agustin Rangel, and Librado Rangel Jr.; six sisters, 
Carolina, Delfina, Juan, Hernila, Estela, Maria C. and Maria Felix Rangel, and 
many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on 
Wednesday, February 2, 2005, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with Recitation of 
the Holy Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. in the Lisle Calaveras Chapel. A Mass of 
Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on 
Thursday, February 3, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. in Fresno, CA. A Graveside Service 
will be held at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery in Stockton, CA on Friday, 
February 4, 2005, at 11:00 a.m.
