He was born July 28, 1944, in Lafayette, Ga. Mr. Wingfield served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He moved to California in 1968, and was employed by the U.S. Post Office as a mailman from 1968-83. He was a member of the American Legion at the Rio Linda Post. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, plants and collecting coins. He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Juanita Gonzales, of Lodi; daughter, Bonita Wingfield, of Stockton; son, Anthony Wingfield, of Stockton; step-daughter, Robin Gonzales, of Rio Linda; step-son, John Gonzales, of Sacramento; brother, Harold Wingfield, of LaFayette, Ga.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Bruce and Wanda Durning; and brother, Budd Wingfield. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lodi Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Castillo officiating. There will be no visitation and committal will be private.
