She passed away at a hospital in Stockton on January 24, 2005. She was 78 years old. She is survived by her son, Douglas Lanam of Mountain View and daughter, Heidi Lanam of Washington, D.C. and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lanam and 2 granddaughters, Clare and Robin both of Mountain View. Also surviving are 1 sister, Ollie Frank of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and 1 brother, George Kaye of Millet, Alberta; many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada. Edna attended Willingdon High School in the early 1940's then entered Misericordia Nursing School and then graduating as a registered nurse in 1949. Then she worked as a medical and surgical supervisor at the hospital for 2 years. Then she attended the University of Alberta nursing program for a degree in teaching and supervising. Upon graduation she worked at the University of Berkeley teaching staff as an instructor in orthopedics until 1955. In 1955 she moved to Berkeley to work as head nurse at the Herrick Hospital in Berkeley. She married Trevor Lanam in December of 1981 and lived in the Bay area for 10 years before moving to Stockton in 1965. Her membership from the 1st Presbyterian Church where she was married was transferred to the Lincoln Presbyterian Church in Stockton in 1965. She was active in the Women's Association. At her church, the Chrisman Committee, the Banner Committee, bible study and the Visiting the Circle at her church. She also had memberships at the Stockton Rose Society, Gourmet Hookers Sewing Group, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the California and Canadian Nurses Association. In Edna's free time she loved gardening and painting. There will be a Memorial service to celebrate Edna's life on February 8, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. The service will take place at the Lincoln Presbyterian Church, 900 Douglas Road, Stockton, CA. There will be a private inurnment at Cherokee Memorial Park Lodi, CA. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
