Salemme Feb. 23, 1930 - Feb. 5, 2005 Nick A. Salemme was born on February 23, 1930 in Endicott, New York. He was 74 years old. He is survived by his wife Renee; three sons, Anthony Salemme of Sacramento, Nick Salemme of Madison, Wisconsin, James Salemme of Stockton, and daughter, Maria Floyd of Groveland, California; sisters, Anita Salemme and Rosalyn DiSerio of Stockton, CA, Sally Nechleba of Vestal, N.Y., and brother, John Salemme of Clifton Park, N.Y.; eight grand-children and 4 great-grandchil- dren. Nick Salemme celebrated life like no other from his incredible love of food, his voice and singing ability; to his never ending humor and quick wit and deep knowledge of life. He made friends from all walks of life, and that is his true testament. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was in the First Occupational Forces in Japan and late in the Chinese Battle Theater that led to the Korea conflict from 1946 to 1951. He was based in San Diego. He served in several positions from boilermaker to the volunteer landing party, in the invasion at the Battle of Inchon. After returning from war, he joined New England Life and demonstrated early success due to an engaging character during the 1950's in New York/ New England metropolitan area. In 1963, he took his immediate family and moved from Northern New York to Stockton, CA, where his cousin Fred Salemme was living and working at California Cedar. He gained employment with Stockton Motors and Erardi Motors from 1964 to 1967, and later he opened Dino's Restau-rant on Hammer Lane. The loyal St. Mary's student body became favorite clients of his pizzas and submarine sandwiches. Many of his greatest friendships that lasted a lifetime came from that extend-ed family. Many of the important events of his family's lives were born in that special place. He was a long time Optimist Club member and enjoyed the most optimistic smile and attitude and gratefulness, throughout a great many year's. In the 1980's he and his sons operated a fertilizer and trucking company and served agriculture from the south of Tracy to the north of Thornton, and developed special life time friends from the Islands and Valley ag community that he always treasured. Those days by far remain the most special time for each of his sons who got to spend all their days with their dad. Those were the best of times, surrounded by each other, the countryside and the close friendships that were made. In his later years he expressed his great vocal talents in various venues and special occasions, and his resonant, strong voice was a joy to hear and will always be remembered by many for whom he performed. Over these last 5 years he worked with his long time friend, Johnnie Jones, in their bowling ball manufacturing company, Lane Masters, and he enjoyed very special friends there. Whether it was bocci, golf, bowling, weight lifting, wrestling, dancing, cooking or telling stories and jokes that would last for hours, there was no other like him, nor ever will be, as so many can testify to. God rest your soul Dad, keep Him laughing until we all show up, and laugh together again...!!!
