Esther Estelle (Mason) Sweeney 
Aug. 14, 1911 - Feb. 8, 2005



Esher was born on August 14, 1911 in McCune, Kansas and died February 8, 2005 
in Stockton, CA. Esther moved to Stockton in August of 1936 with her husband, 
Harold Dorman Sweeney, and their four children; Elmer Edward, Shirley Joann, 
Richard Dean and Mary Evelyn. 
She is survived by two children, Shirley Joann (Richesin) King of Elk Grove, 
and Richard Dean Sweeney, last known to be in Arkansas. If you would ask her 
what made her the happiest, she would tell you that taking care of her 
grandchildren had to be one of her greatest pleasures. She leaves 12 
grandchildren: Chuck Richesin, Woodbridge, CA, Dean Richesin, San Juan 
Capistrano, CA, Denise Welsh, Las Cruces, NM, Evelyn Easley, Elk Grove, CA, 
David Sweeney, Fallon, NV, Suzanne Brown, Elk Grove, CA, Ray Patterson, II, S. 
California, Sandy Bergsing, Livingston, MT, TeriLani Hoxie, Honolulu, HI, Cindy 
Daniels, Great Falls, MT, Mark Patterson, Sacramento, CA, Michelle Davis, 
Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren and 14 great-
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held for family members and friends. 
Interment is at South East Lawn Memorial Park in Elk Grove, CA. Viewing will be 
in Chapel D at South East Lawn Memorial Park, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 
Sunday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Graveside service, 11:00 .m. on Monday, February 
14, 2005. 
(Take the Bond Road exit off of Hwy 99; turn left at E. Stockton Blvd. and 
following around past the shopping center to the Memorial Park entrance.)
