An artist, businesswoman and homemaker, Maida attended Stockton High School and the University of Pacific. After her marriage to John S. Moore Jr., she moved to Modesto. She and her husband started a family farm machinery business and were founding members of Del Rio Golf and Country Club. Active in community organizations such as Omega Nu and the Modesto Branch of the National League of American Pen Women she was a noted watercolorist and exhibited widely earning numerous awards for her paintings. After the death of her husband Maida ran the family business, J.M. Equipment Co. until the business was sold. In 1961, Maida married Dr. A.E. Ghilotti and they enjoyed a second home in Pebble Beach where golf and bird watching were favorite pastimes. Following the death of Dr. Ghilotti, Maida moved to Napa to be near her daughter. An enduring love of the land and respect for the environment began while growing up on a ranch on Roberts Island near Stockton. These interests continued throughout her life and took her to every corner of the world. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Moore Mendelson and her husband, Ralph of Napa; a stepson, Richard Ghilotti of Riverbank; 3 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. Services are to be private.
