Yocum Nov. 22, 1918 - Feb. 14, 2005 James L. Yocum, 86, of Stockton, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2005 in Hospice House. Born on November 22, 1918 in Aurora, IL. He was chief claims inspector for 15 years with the U.S. Department of Labor retiring in 1974. He then worked part time for the American Federation of Government Employees. James served in the Marines during World War II in the South Pacific where he was proud to serve his country. After the war he was in the Marine Corp Reserve. He received the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation with one star, Reserve Good Conduct Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with five stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Yocum Paige of Lodi and Nancy Yocum Brown of Stockton. Stepfather of Gary Yocum of Lodi. Grandfather of Sean Brown, Nicole Yocum McNally and Lindsay Yocum all of Stockton.
