James C. Upton, Jr. 
Sept. 28, 1929 - Feb. 15, 2005



James C. Upton, Jr., 75, of Stockton, passed away on 15 February 2005 in the 
Kaiser Permanente Hospital of natural causes. Born on 28 September 1929 in 
Claremore, OK to Mr. & Mrs. James and Amy Upton. 
His wife of 54 years, Mary J. Upton (Maddox) passed away in June of 2003. 
James is survived by his sons, Don Buck of Lompoc, CA, Mike Upton of 
Cottonwood, CA and James Upton, III of Vacaville, CA, and a daughter, Patricia 
Matthews of Pittsburg, CA; 9 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren and 4 
great-great-grandchildren. A younger son, Jerry Upton, preceded both parents. 
James is also survived by his mother, Amy Upton (age 91) and younger brother, 
Dewey Upton both of Gualt, CA. 
James served for 3 years in the Army Air Corps as an Engineer, during the mid-
40's. Following this, he did various odd jobs, retiring from Tosco Oil 
Refineries, Martinez, CA in the mid '70's after 30-years of service. 
Funeral arrangements were made through DeYoung Funeral Chapel of Stockton, CA, 
and the Graveside service will be held at Oakview Memorial Park, Antioch on 
Friday, 18 February at 1:30 p.m.
