She was born Esther Fletcher Dodson on Jan. 14, 1918, in Hanson, Okla. Mrs. Bigby-Smith married Walter Duncan "W.D." Bigby Jr. in 1935. They made their home in Klamath Falls, Ore., where they became pastors of a small Full Gospel Tabernacle in 1950. In 1962, she and her husband moved to Lodi, where they became pastors of Calvary Temple until resigning in 1966. Later, she married William E. Smith in Lodi. She later lived in Mission Viejo, Meford, Ore., and then settled in Vancouver, Wash., where she lived with her daughter. Esther Bigby-Smith She enjoyed being a minister's wife and working in the ministry. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, the Rev. Ed Bigby, of Dallas, and Virgil Bigby, of Vancouver, Wash.; daughter, Barbara Jean Hunter-Doholis, of Vancouver; brother, Ernest Franklin Dodson; sister, Helen Spenser; nine grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 31 years, the Rev. Walter Duncan Bigby, in 1966; second husband, William E. Smith; brothers, the Rev. Oliver Dodson and George Dodson; sisters, Hazel English-Kennerly and Rose Miller; and one great-grandson, Christopher James Bigby. A memorial service was held Feb. 11 at Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver, Wash, with the Rev. Ed Bigby officiating. Interment was held at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery in Lodi. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
