Ruth Caldwell 
Ruth M. Caldwell, 76, of Lodi, died Feb. 19 in Lodi following a brief illness. 
She was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Winston Salem, N.C.

Ms. Caldwell was a resident of Monterey Peninsula for 20 years before 
relocating to Lodi two-and-a-half years ago. She worked as a dietitian, and was 
a member of Seaside Community Seventh-day Adventist Church and Fairmont Seventh-
day Adventist Church. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles. 

She is survived by her daughters, Donna R. Moore, of Lodi, Bobbie J. Ervin and 
Cheryl Talbert, both of Detroit, Mich., and Kim Davis, of Salinas; sisters, 
Geraldine Sheppard, Claudette Gaither and Brenda Lou Johnson, all of Winston 
Salem, N.C.; brothers, David Caldwell, of Texas, and Eulas Salathiel Smarr, of 
Hollywood; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Smith; and sons, Edward Caldwell 
and Kenneth Caldwell.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at Seaside Community Seventh-day 
Adventist Church in Seaside with Pastor Bobby Mitchel officiating.

Ben Salas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
