Vernon Wilks 
Vernon (Pete) W. Wilks, 86, of Lodi, died Feb. 22 in a local hospital. She was 
born Oct. 20, 1918, in Garfield, Ark.

Mr. Wilks lived in Stockton and Lodi for 62 years. He worked as a truck driver 
for 28 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 439 in Stockton. He 
was a former president and a lifetime member of the San Joaquin Valley Rangers. 

He is survived by his daughters, Vonda Herring, of Stockton, Gerry Wichman, of 
Florida, Bernell Wichman, of Lodi, Barbara Cosgrove, of Stockton; son, Stephen 
Wichman, of Antioch; 12 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-
great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Wilks.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Cherokee Memorial Park, 
Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 
Sunday at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

survivors.
