LaRiviere September 6, 1919 - Feb. 19, 2005 Lester G. LaRiviere, 85, of Stockton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 19, 2005 in a local care facility. Known by all of his friends as just Les, he was born on September 6, 1919 in Stockton, CA. Les attended local schools, a graduate of Stockton High School. He was a team member of the Stockton High basketball team, which became known as "The Tiny Tims" and they all were inducted into the Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame. Les also attended Modesto Jr. College and on to the College of the Pacific where he also played basketball. Les served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. LaRiviere retired from the Port of Stockton where he worked for 28 years and was a member of the I.L.W.U. local #34. Prior to the Port he worked for S.M. McGraw Construction Co. and was sole owner of Les's Place. Les was a member and past president of the Amblers Club. He was married to his beloved Esperanza "Hope" LaRiviere for 41 years. Les was a very modest person and he gave of himself to his family first where he and Hope raised 7 boys and 3 girls. It was a very blended family but they were all Les's kids. He is also survived by his children, Yolanda (Manuel) Huerta, Jesse (Noreen) Sanchez, Johnny (Kathy) Sanchez, Frank (Tracey) Dela Riva, Patricia Lindsey, Connie (Kirby) Bailey, Pete (Mary) Sanchez, Jr. and the late Steven Lindsey. He was a father to his wife's 2 nephews, Steven (Candida) Romero of Virginia Beach, VA and Dr. Jose Romero of San Diego, CA. Les also has numerous grandchildren and great grand children. He loved them all. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 10 a.m. in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park.
