Pettit April 26, 1932 - February 22, 2005 Patricia J. Pettit, 72, died at home on Tuesday, February 22, 2005, from the complications of Breast Cancer. Pat fought a very long, hard battle with this consuming disease. Pat was born April 26, 1932, and she graduated from the Santa Rosa College School of Nursing and the School of Public Health at the University of California. In 1966 she became the Assistant Director of Nursing at Mark Twain Hospital in San Andreas where she met her husband Ron who was a Lieutenant in the Sheriffs Department. In 1969 they moved to Stockton, and she was a Public Health nurse for the Local Health District. Pat retired in 1994 after many years as the Director of Public Health Nursing. In 1973, she received a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Southern California. She has received numerous commendations and awards for her work in San Joaquin County. She is survived by her husband, Ron, of Stockton and son, Murray Petitt of Eugene, Oregon; dear daughter-in-law, Lisa Petitt and most cherished grandchildren, Sam and Claire, age 8; beloved sisters, Kathy Trenam of Jackson and Kitty Ruhstahler of Stockton. She wanted to acknowledge the loving support she received from her sisters and friends, Connie, Marci, Nancy and Ellen. The final days of her life were made more comfortable by Hospice nurse, Terry Filter, assisted by Donna and Margaret Young, Social Worker. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 1470 Enea Circle, Concord, CA 94520 or the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Sacramento, CA 95815 No services will be held at her request. The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 6, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at the Alder Market, 151 West Alder Street, Stockton.
