Hogate Blackmore Nov. 30, 1906 - Feb. 25, 2005 Irma M. Hogate Blackmore was born on November 30, 1906 in Bladen, Nebraska to Samuel and Charlotte Hogate. She passed away in Reno, Nevada on February 25, 2005 at the age of 98. Irma spent her formative years on her parents' homestead, and graduated from high school in Ogallala, Nebraska, before attending Normal School in preparation for a career in teaching. She then taught in a one-room school in Nebraska. Irma's family moved to Escalon, California in 1926, where she met her future husband, Francis L. Blackmore, Sr. They were married in 1927 and lived for many years in Escalon and later, Milton, California. She received her B.A. from San Francisco State University in San Francisco, CA, and went on to teach in Stockton, CA, retiring from the Lincoln Unified School District after many years of service to her profession. Irma was an active member of the Lincoln Presbyterian Church for many years and was a former resident of O'Connor Woods, in Stockton, CA. In addition to her beloved husband, Irma was preceded in death by her son, Francis L. Blackmore, Jr; sisters Emma G. Hogate and Wilma F. Schwing; brother William W. Hogate; and two great-grand- children. She is survived by her son William and daughter-in-law Donna Black- more of Reno; daughter Virginia and son-in-law William Edsall of Reno; sister M. Phyllis Cooney of Modesto, CA; sister-in-law Pauline Hogate of Citrus Heights, CA; grandchildren William G. Blackmore of Farmington, CA, Callie Garcian of Riverbank, CA, Karen Blackmore of Modesto, CA, Bradley L. Blackmore of Oakdale, CA, Jodi Garcia of Stockton, CA, and Elaine E. Haire of Rocklin, CA. Additional survivors include 11 great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, 6 great- great-grandchildren, 10 nieces and 5 nephews. Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, California. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a reception at the Lincoln Presbyterian Church, 900 Douglas Rd., Stockton, California. The family requests that Irma be remembered with a donation in her name to a favorite charity. Arrangements are entrusted to the Walton Funeral Home, Reno.
