Hugh Snyder 
Hugh E. "Bill" Snyder, 91, of Stockton and formerly of Lodi, died March 1. He 
was born April 21, 1913, in Gridley and was raised in Weed.

Mr. Snyder married Carmel Elsie Snyder in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy 
during World War II, and also served with the California Conservation Corp. For 
several years, he was in the Navy Reserves until he was discharged as chief. He 
was employed by Rough & Ready Island for 38 years until his retirement in 1977. 
He married Bernice Tredway in 1979 and they made their home in Lodi. 

He is survived by his son, Bill Snyder Jr., of Stockton; sister, Lois Prosser, 
of Redding; and grandson, Christopher Dugan Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carmel Elsie Snyder; and son, David 
Glen Snyder in 1996.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Garden of Gospels 
at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific 
Ave., Stockton, CA 95204-1953.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
