A native of Patton Hill, Ind., he moved to Tracy in 1944 and attended Tracy schools, graduating from Tracy High School in 1950. From 1950 to 1954, Mr. Hardwick served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He then went to work for Richfield Oil Co. in Long Beach. After retiring in 1988, he moved to Merlin, Ore., near Grants Pass. Remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, he maintained a number of friendships with Tracy residents. Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Hardwick, and his wife, Carmen, of Eden, N.C.; two grandchildren, Carl and Phillip Hardwick, both of Eden, N.C.; a sister, Eve “Kitty” Johnson of Britton Hill, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Alan Richards of Colorado; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Fuhrman of Carmel. Mr. Hardwick was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Carla Richards Hardwick, who died in 2002. Tuesday’s services will begin at 10 a.m. at Hull & Hull Mortuary, 612 N.W. A St., Grants Pass, OR 97526. Burial will be in Grants Pass. Visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. The family prefers memorial contributions in Mr. Hardwick’s name to the Love Joy Hospice, 939 S.E. Eighth St., Grants Pass, OR 97526; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
