Mary Silveira Pacheco Sept. 29, 1915 — July 14, 2004 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday for longtime Tracy resident Mary Silveira Pacheco, 88, who died Wednesday at her home. Born in the Azores, Portugal, she lived in Brentwood from 1928 to 1942, where she worked on her family’s farm. She then moved to Tracy and opened a dairy farm with her husband in 1943. She was a dairy farmer 40 years. Mrs. Pacheco enjoyed gardening, cheering on the Oakland A’s and traveling to Monterey and Santa Cruz with her family and to Reno, Nev., with a seniors group. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and a member of IPFES, SES and St. Anthony’s Society. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, wife, sister and aunt, and as a dear friend and neighbor who will be greatly missed. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Focha-Porteous of Escalon, and her husband, Robert; two brothers, Joe Roza of Tracy and Tony Roza of Brentwood; a sister, Helen Risso of Stockton; her caregiver, Lena Henry of Tracy; and 31 nephews and nieces. Mrs. Pacheco was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Manuel S. Pacheco, and a sister, Minnie Pacheco. Monday’s Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Visitation will be observed from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, followed by a vigil at 6 p.m., both at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave. Interment will be in Tracy Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Pacheco’s name may be made to St. Bernard’s building fund, 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy 95376.
