He was born July 26, 1956, in Phoenix. Mr. Acuna was one of the Apache tribe of New Mexico and the Yaqui tribe of Arizona. He joined the U.S Marine Corps in 1973 at the age of 17, and was the youngest Native American to join. He was an electrician by trade, and a craftsman of unusual arts. He enjoyed music, the outdoors, camping and cook- outs with family and friends. He is survived by his parents, Alvita and Ralph Acuna, of Cherry Valley; daughters, Jessica Parsons, of Florida, Nina Brush, of Washington, Lila Wood, of Lodi, and Annie Nehrten, of Kentucky; sons, William Acuna, of Lodi, and Gabriel Willette, of Lockeford; sisters, Lydia Acuna, of Mexico and Gina Acuna, of Nevada; and five grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at 419 N. Sacramento St., Lodi. Memorial contributions may be made to an Indian charity or to the Liver Disease Foundation.
