She was born on June 28, 1916, in Ordway, Colo. Mrs. Joens moved to Lodi with her family in 1920, where she attended local grammar schools and graduated from Lodi High School in 1935. She was employed by J.C. Penney Co. until 1938 when she married "Bill" Blewett in Nevada. She moved to Carmel with her husband where they managed an ice cream parlor in downtown for three years. They relocated to Tracy, and then returned to Lodi in 1946, where they built their house on E. Highway 12. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their trailer in the Western states looking for old clocks and other antiques. In 1972, her husband died, and in 1978 she married Charles J. "Charlie" Joens, a former friend from high school. During the summer, they enjoyed fishing together and taking their travel trailer to Bear River Reservoir. She was a former member of the Lockeford Parents Club and was active as a 4H leader in Lockeford. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Lodi Travel Club, Lodi Garden Club, San Joaquin County Historical Society, and the Widowed Persons Association. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing bridge with friends. She is survived by her son, Edward S. Blewett, of Centennial, Colo.; daughter, Maralyn Messer, of Lodi; brother, Art Bischel, of Sammamish, Wash; sisters, Elaine Banks, of Stockton; May Peak, of Keno, Ore., and Tabea Merkel, of Modesto; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three step- grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sterling C. "Bill" Blewett in 1972; second husband, Charles J. "Charlie" Joens in 1988; and brother, Henry Bischel Sr. in 2003. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Harney Lane and Highway 99, Lodi. Committal will follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi.
