He was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Chicago, Ill. Mr. Goreczny served in the U.S. Army from 1943-45 during World War II in Luzon, Philippines, and was the recipient of three bronze stars while serving to liberate the Philippines. He moved to California in 1957 and settled in San Jose where he worked and attended college. He worked as a tool and die machinist in the fabrication industry for 60 years, and was an artist who worked with oils and pastels. Following his retirement, he moved to Lodi in 1985. John Goreczny He is survived by his brother, William Goreczny, of Chicago, Ill., and 22 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Chester, and Stanley Goreczny; sisters, Mary Klein, Irene Goreczny, Helen Wojyleski, Eleanor Boling, Jean Hanak and Harriet Selecki. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. There will be no visitation. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
