Evelyn Ruth Sperry

June 18, 1916 — Nov. 28, 2005 

A celebration of life will be Saturday for former San Leandro resident Evelyn
Ruth Sperry, 89, who died Nov. 28 at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. 


Born in Cumberland, Wis., Mrs. Sperry lived in Tracy two years. She was a 
devoted Christian, a loving mother and a dear friend to many. She retired as a 
nurse at Doctor’s Hospital in San Leandro after 21 years.

Mrs. Sperry is survived by her children, Lola Henry and her husband, James, of 
Tracy, and Carol Reilly and her husband, Don, of San Leandro; grandchildren, 
John Blakley, Debbie Hanks and Earl Reilly; great-grandchildren, Jr. Garcia, 
Mikey Mascote, Angela Mascote-Zamora, Justin Hamilton, Kayla and Leah Blakley, 
Carolynn Reynolds, Bobbie Zamora and Ryan Hamilton-Blakley; great-great-
grandchildren, Cynthia and Christopher Garcia and Joyce Zamora; and many 
nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Earl Sperry; son, Robert 
Sperry, parents, Charles and D. Lola Hazen; grandmother, Charlotte Gough; 
brother, Harold Hazen; and a granddaughter, Cynthia Garcia-Mascote.

A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Church of Christ, 2514 
Altoga Ave., in Tracy. 

Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Lone Tree Cemetery, 24591 Fairview 
Ave., in Hayward.

Altoga Ave., Tracy 95376.
