Henry Sr. Dec. 1, 1927 — Feb. 4, 2006 A memorial service will be today for former longtime Tracy resident John C. Henry Sr., 78, who died Feb. 4 at Manteca Doctor’s Hospital. Born in Arcadia, N.Y., Mr. Henry lived in Tracy more than 30 years before living in Long Barn 10 years and Manteca 19 years. He retired from the Tracy Defense Depot after 30 years of service. He was a reserve officer in the Tracy Police Department during the 1960s. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947, and he did a tour of duty in Vietnam as a civilian in 1968 and 1969. He was a member of Odd Fellows in Long Barn. He was also a member and a deacon at the Chapel in the Pines Church in Twain Heart. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping. He also liked to travel across the United States with his late wife, Karen. Mr. Henry is survived by his children, Patricia Kneisley and Rose Snell, both of Ripon, William Riney of Arizona and John C. Henry Jr. of Washington; stepdaughters, Deena Siddle of Weldon and Sheri Gallups of California; siblings, J.P. Henry of Manteca, Amos Henry of Arkansas, Elizabeth Henderson of Louisiana and Wanda Henry of Modesto; grandchildren, J.C., Mandy and Devin Henry, Denise and Jeff Bias, and Ryan and Rocky Snell; and 14 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Henry. Today’s memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, in Manteca. Interment will be private.
