Duska Hess 
Duska Lou Hess, 70, of Sacramento and formerly of Lodi, died Sept. 10. She was 
born Duska Lou Bailey on Oct. 26, 1934, in Lodi, where she was raised and 
graduated from Lodi High School.

Mrs. Hess married Karl Al Hess in 1953 at Morris Chapel at the University of 
the Pacific in Stockton. She and her husband owned and operated Al and Dusty's 
Liquor Store in Sacramento for 27 years until her retirement in 1991. She 
enjoyed traveling with her sister to Mexico yearly, fishing and playing tennis. 
She was an active golfer and was involved as a tournament chairman at Bradshaw. 

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberlee Hess, of Sacramento, and Jill Alyn 
Cline, of Brentwood; sister, Nedra McGirr, of Sparks, Nev.; and three 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Alan Hess in 2000.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sierra View Funeral 
Chapel, 6201 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael, CA 95608. There will be no visitation 
and committal will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Vitas 
Healthcare Corp of California, 3841 N. Freeway Blvd., No. 210, Sacramento, CA 
95834; or to the American Red Cross for Katrina relief.
