Born in Chicago, Mr. Higby lived in Manteca 19 years. He was a member of the Golden Anchor Boat Club in Tracy 33 years. After working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory 35 years, he retired in 1993. He loved camping, fishing, water skiing and working on cars. Mr. Higby will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Higby is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Higby of Manteca; children, Teresa Rochin, and her husband, Bob, Doug Higby, and his wife, Tonya, all of Livermore, and Ken Higby, and his wife, Diana, of Manteca; grandchildren, Dan, Jimmy, Seth, Olivia and Jordan; and great-grandchild, Daniel. Today’s services will begin at noon at Callaghan’s Chapel, 3833 East Ave., in Livermore. Interment will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday in San Joaquin National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Road, in Gustine. Contributions in Mr. Higby’s name may be sent to the American Lung Association, 295 27th St., Oakland 94612 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
