Retired Painting 
Contractor John 
Hildenbrand Dies
  John J. Hildenbrand, a retired painting contractor died yesterday morning in 
a local hospital after an extended illness.  He was 71.
  Mr. Hildenbrand was born in Lehr, N.D.  After farming there for many years, 
he came to Lodi in 1936.  With his son, William he opened the J.J. Hildenbrand 
and Son Painting Contractor firm which has operated in Lodi for some 23 years.
  He was a member of the San Joaquin County Painting and Decorating 
Contractors Association, and a charter member of the Temple Baptist Church.
  Mr. Hildenbrand is survived by his wife, Pauline of 501 S. Lee St; a son 
William, of Lodi; three daughters, Mrs. Esther Painter, of Los Altos; Mrs. 
Lyle Cook, of Lodi; and Mrs. Mayvis Rugaard, of Lodi; two brothers, William, 
of Lodi; Charles, of Santa Clara; and six sisters, Mrs. Sam Ritz, Mrs. Edwin 
Suess, Mrs. Otto Helmle and Mrs. Johanna Hauff, of Carmichael; and Mrs. Bertha 
Brooks, of Altadena.
  Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the 
Lodi Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Schreiber of the Temple Baptist Church 
officiating.  Interment will be in Cherokee Memorial Park.
