Mr. Hildenbrand was born on July 31, 1918, in Lehr, N.D. and moved to Lodi in 1937. He and his father, the late John Hildenbrand began the “Hildenbrand and Son” Painting business in 1939 serving the Lodi area for over 50 years. Mr. Hildenbrand was a charter member of Calvary Bible Church and Temple Baptist Church. He was instrumental in establishing and building the Silver Lake Chapel in 1973 and served as Chapel Board Chairman until his passing. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and saw action in the China, Burma, India Theater. He was an avid fisherman, having fished throughout the United States, Canada and Alaska. He enjoyed camping and being with family, friends and his grandchildren, whom he taught all how to fish. He is survived by his wife, Lois of 51 years of Lodi, a son, Jim Hildenbrand of Discovery Bay and a daughter, Joani Pruitt of Dos Palos; four grandchildren, Tyler and Trevor Hildenbrand and Katy and William Pruitt; three sisters, Esther Painter of Los Altos, Vera Cook and Mayvis Kundert of Lodi. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16th, at Calvary Bible Church with Pastor Randy Bowman officiating. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. No visitation will be held and inurment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible, Silver Lake Chapel Memorial Fund or the San Joaquin County Historical Museum. Gierhart-Wells and Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
