Born in Chico, Mr. Honodel lived in Manteca since 1929. He was the first child of Dr. and Mrs. W.R. Honodel. He attended Chico schools and played football in high school. In 1929, Mr. Honodel served Manteca residents at their local pharmacy from 1929 to 1975. For 40 years, he owned and operated three pharmacies in Manteca. He was a charter member and past president of the Manteca Noon Kiwanis. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Manteca and was presented with the 25-year Eastern Star pin in 1970 and his 50-year DeMolay pin in 1972. He was a strong supporter of the Manteca Historical Society. Mr. Honodel was involved in numerous community activities. He was an initial investor in what is now Doctors Hospital of Manteca and contributed to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He was inducted into the Manteca Hall of Fame in 2004. Also in 2004, he was recognized by the USC School of Pharmacy for 81 years of service. He will be remembered by all as a man who loved his family and community. Mr. Honodel is survived by his children, Betty Rae McGehee, and her husband, Bill, of Rio Rico, Ariz., and Charles Honodel, and his wife, Kay, of Tracy; grandchildren, Christa Davis of Chico, Randi Condon of The Dalles, Ore., Steven Honodel of San Jose, Lori Patton of Pittsburg, Curtis Honodel of Brentwood, Debra Witt of Altaville and Deneille Honodel-Harper of Ripon; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Helen Honodel; son, Neil Honodel; one brother and one sister; and two grandchildren, Greg and Jeff Honodel.
