Horstman July 19, 1926 - March 30, 2005 Leslie J. Horstman, 78 of Stockton, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in a local care facility. Born on July 19, 1926 in Sacramento, CA. Leslie was raised in a minister's home and his father, Rev. J.L. Horstman was known for starting the first Dial-A-Prayer program. He was a long time business man in Stockton as co-owner for 50 years in Horstman's Floral, Horstman Furniture and Laz-E-Boy Showcase Shop. He served in the Navy during World War II as Store Keeper 2nd class in Japan and the Philippines. Leslie was a member of the North Stockton Kiwanis Club, a long time member of First Church of God in Stockton and the Lodi Community Church serving on the church board, taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. His love of life was his wife and only child and his 3 adoring grandchildren. His leisure time was spent at his mountain cabin, riding horses and traveling by R.V. He dearly loved his late brother and co- owner, Carl Horstman. Leslie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Horstman of Stockton; loving father of Cindy (Larry) Ford of Stockton; grandfather of Greg Ford of Stockton, Sara Ford and Stacey Ford, both of Fresno; 3 loving nieces; loving brother-in- law of Jenean Horstman of Stockton. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in the Evergreen Chapel in Cherokee Memorial Park. Pastor, Kevin Suess officiating. Max Carroll of Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions to either the American Heart Assoc., 1212 W.
