He was born Jan. 16, 1923, in San Francisco. Mr. Howard served in the U.S. Army from 1943-45, and was a World War II veteran. He built his own house in the Los Altos Hills. While he lived in the Bay Area, he worked on a tugboat along with other types of boats. He also owned a pub and worked at a cemetery. When he moved to Lockeford, he started a chicken ranch and also worked as a dairyman and at Sharpe Depot. Later, he worked for San Joaquin County Highway Maintenance as an equipment operator II, where he worked for 20 years. He was well-known as an avid storyteller. Clyde Howard He is survived by his grandson, Charles A. Howard, of Livermore; granddaughters, Dusty Howard, of Chula Vista and Diana Ware, of Oregon; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Howard in 1999; son, Clyde A. Howard, III in 1988; and sister, Peggy Simons. A chapel service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Chaplain Tony Berry officiating. Committal will follow. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lodi Funeral Home.
