Hummel February 29, 1928 - March 20, 2005 Floyd E. Hummel, age 77, a longtime resident of Fremont, CA, passed away peacefully at her daughters home in Stockton, CA due to complications of cancer. Her husband, son and daughters were by her side. Flo as her family and friends knew her, was born in Green, Iowa on February 29, 1928 and joined our Lord on March 20, 2005. Flo was preceded in death by both of her parents, Fred and Pearl Salsbury; siblings, Ralph, Myrtle, Ray, Ruth, Hazel, Beth, Dorothy, Donald, Carol and Phyllis; daughters, Gloria Jean and Lola Jean. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, LeRoy A. Hummel; daughter, Beverly Staley of Witchita Falls Texas; daughter, Peggy Clifton of Modesto, CA; son, James Hummel of Fremont CA; daughter, Debra Benson of Stockton, CA; daughter-in-law, Susan Benson of Stockton, CA; daughter-in-law, Janyce Hummel of Fremont, CA; siblings; sister, Grace of Mason City IA; sister, Eleanor of New Mexico; grandchildren, David Staley of Frazier Park, CA, Michael Staley of San Francisco, CA, Lisa Staley of Tracy, CA, Andy Clifton of Fremont, CA, Gloria Alfaro of Jasper, GA, Tim Hummel of San Francisco, CA, Dan Hummel of Fremont, CA, Jason Magee of Las Vegas, NV, Molly Magee of Stockton, CA and their dear significant others; eleven great- grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that filled her heart with happiness. She worked many years but wants to be remembered not for the jobs she had done to supper her family but for her ability to accept life and go with the flow. Being quiet and never complaining, even during her battle with cancer has only validated her strength and commitment to her family and friends and showed to many the ultimate value of life. Her favorite past time was cross-stitching, crafts, travel and family gatherings. At the request of Flo, there will be no services or visitations. The family will be having a private gathering that will be held at a later date to celebrate her wonderful life and the life she has given to so many.
