He was born June 3, 1919, in Bingham, Utah. Mr. Ivers lived in Pleasanton and Stockton prior to moving to Herald 17 years ago. He was employed by the Denver Rio Grande Railroad for 10 years, where he hauled war supplies during World War II, and was the youngest yard master in the history of the railroad. He moved to California after the war, where he worked in the automobile industry for 50 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he and his wife were ward missionaries. Jack Ivers He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ivers; sons, Jack Ivers, of Utah, Gary Ivers and John Carlson, both of California, and Charles Carlson, of Nevada; daughters, Wanda Gambino, of Nevada, Diana Bates and Patricia Jacobucci, both of California, and Peggy Oliver, of Nevada; 28 grandchildren and 27 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beth Ivers. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 972 Village Oak Ave., Galt. Committal will be held at Memory Gardens in Livermore. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ben Salas Funeral Home. Ben Salas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
