As a youngster he was placed in the Rowher, Arkansas interment camp with his family during the war. Following their release they returned to Lodi and he graduated from Lodi High School in 1946. He served in the US Army from 1951-52 and was discharged as a decorated veteran of the Korean Conflict. Hiro then worked in the family's Sunset Market on Lodi Avenue in Lodi while he attended Delta College in Stockton and received his AA Degree in 1959. He soon began employment with AeroJet in Sacramento for 12 years as a Designer. Then continued as a Designer with Blackwelders Manufacturing Company in Rio Vista for 19 years designing agriculture machinery. He retired in 1991 after 31 years as a Designer. He enjoyed fishing, in the past playing baseball and bowling. Hiro is survived by 4 siblings, Tom Ishida of Sacramento, George Ishida of Chicago, Illinois, Atsushi Ishida of Cupertino and Bess Iwamura of Lodi and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 5 siblings, Jim Ishida, Ruth Sunada, Ina Shironaka, Helen Ishida and Mitsue Ishida and his parents, Shinkuro and Koriyo Ishida. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 2:20 p.m. in the Lodi Buddhist Church, 23 N. Stockton Street, with Rev. Kenshin Fujimoto officiating. Inurnment will be private in Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi. A Family Memorial Registry may be signed at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way near Beckman Road, Lodi, on Monday and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
