Johnson, Sr. Nov. 28, 1919 - April 2, 2005 Ralph H. Johnson, Sr., 85, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005 in Stockton. He was born in Clayton, Wisconsin to Ernest and Hilma Johnson, who immigrated from Sweden. Ralph was one of 13 children. His brothers and sisters included Dagney, John, Ruth, Gustof, Clarence, Carl, Arthur, Margaret, Bernice, Marilyn, Lorraine and a baby boy who died at childbirth. He grew up in Wisconsin on a dairy farm and served in the US Army during WWII. After the war he drove a truck for an oil company in Southern Califonria. He saw an opportunity to earn more money and worked in Saudi Arabia for one year on an oil pipeline. In the 1950's, he started his own construction company building single family homes and apartments in Southern Califonria. He later brought his trade to Northern California and built many homes in Sonora, Crystal Springs and Twain Harte. His hobbies have included fishing, flying his own airplane and traveling. In his later years he was the Bingo caller for his senior citizen complex. He was also an avid poker player and played with his friends, Ann, Bea, Muriel, Joe and Richard. He enjoyed having lunch everyday with his friends, especially Mary. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved by all whom he touched. He was preceded in death by his son, Ralph H. Johnson, Jr. and wife, Evangeline R. Johnson. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Sylvia Bachman and her husband, Frank; daughter-in-law, Susan Johnson; his granddaughter, Kristyn Migliori and her husband, Michael, great-grandson, Benjamin and great-grand-daughters, Cate and Claire; grandson, Justin Ling and his fiance, Genevieve Siwabessy; granddaughters, Brenda Ling, Jennifer Heinselman and her husband, Brent and great-grandsons, Cameron and Colin and grandson, Scott Johnson and his wife, Crystal. Family and friends are invited to attend a Vigil Service at the DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Dr., Stockton, CA on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Church of the Presentation, 6715 Leesburg Pl., Stockton on Wednesday, April 6 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the Shoreline Chapel, Tuesday, 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm. and Wednesday, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.
