Thomas was a Cancer Warrior who survived Hodgkin's disease 30 years ago and now has battled Melanoma over the past year. He was born to Walter & Marion Joyner on February 3, 1954 in Racine, Wisconsin. Thomas was raised in Racine, WI where he graduated from Park High School and was very active in sports. He played football and participated in the track & field where he threw shot put & discus. Thomas then attended the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire where he majored in Business, Geography and History and received his Bachelors Degrees. While attending college he was involved in track & field where he held the college record in javelin for ten years. When attending college he met his college sweetheart and now wife, Terri (Leuzinger) Joyner. He moved from Wisconsin to California in 1980 where he lived in San Mateo for four years, prior to moving to Fair Oaks where he resided for five years. Thomas then moved to Lodi in 1989 where he has resided for the past 16 years. He worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for the Elk Grove Postal Service for 18 years. Thomas enjoyed jogging, camping, and kayaking. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Terri Joyner of Lode; Mother, Marion Joyner of Racine, WI; siblings, Walt Joyner of Paremata, New Zealand, Jane Seitz of Union Grove, WI, Jeff Joyner of Sussex, WI and a English Springer Spaniel, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Joyner. Graveside inurnment services will be held late July in Wisconsin at the Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, WI.
