Kuhlman, 86, of Stockton and formerly of Lodi, died Oct. 21 at a hospice. He was born Feb. 15, 1919, in Brainard, Minn. Mr. Kuhlman lived in New York state before his family moved to the Gridley area in Butte County. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines during World War II. He was captured and held as a prisoner of war in Japan. He was a member of the Delta chapter of Ex-POWs. Quentin Kuhlman After the war, Mr. Kuhlman received a bachelor's degree from Pacific Union College and a master's degree in biology from San Jose State University. Mr. Kuhlman taught junior high school science for 25 years before retiring from teaching in 1974. He began a new career as a mechanic for a machine shop. He retired in 1986 and moved to Hyampom, where he lived 15 years. He moved to Lodi and then to Stockton five years ago. He was a member of English Oaks Seventh- day Adventist Church in Lodi. Although Mr. Kuhlman spelled his last name with one "n," some family members preferred to have two "n's" at the end of their name. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Kuhlman, of Stockton; sons, Howard Kuhlmann, of Fairfield, Lawrence Kuhlman, of Carmichael, Wayne Kuhlmann, of Placerville, and Mark Kuhlman, of Stockton; daughters, Susan Hatch and Sharon Miller, both of Lodi; brother, Hale Kuhlman, of Fallbrook; sisters, Adela Amundson, of Red Bluff, and Myrtle Samla, of Sacramento; and seven grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home in Lodi.
