Mrs. Silva was born in Gustine. She attended Banta School and Manteca High School and lived in Banta 80 years. She met Joe Silva while they both attended Banta School. She moved to Manteca and was later reacquainted with him at a Portuguese Celebration. They married in 1939. Mrs. Silva loved her family and being a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her specialties were cooking and baking her Portuguese sweetbread. Her family gathered at their home on Sundays to enjoy her delicious fried chicken. She enjoyed working on the ranch with Joe and especially working in her beautiful flower garden when they lived on Kasson Road. She also loved their many family vacations to Santa Cruz and Hawaii. Mrs. Silva and Joe were married 53 years at the time of his death in 1992. She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends. Mrs. Silva is survived by her sons, Joe Silva, Richard Silva, and his wife, Diana, Kenny Silva, and his wife, Jackie, and Eddie Silva, and his wife, Gabey, all of Tracy; daughter, Joyce Myers, and her husband, Martin, of Tracy; grandchildren, Joey Silva of North Carolina, Terrie Silva, and Jimmy Silva, and his wife, Margo, all of Tracy, Michael Silva, and his fiancé, Torey Nasif, of San Diego, Doug Silva, and his wife, Sara, of Stockton, and Lori Nelson, and her husband, Bryan, and Marty Myers, and his wife, Stacy, all of Ripon, and Eddie, Matthew and Stephanie Silva, all of Tracy; sisters-in-law; Marian Leal of Manteca; Evelyn Terra of Tracy, and Belle Silva, Josephine Castro and Pauline Silva, all of Banta; brother-in-law Frank Silva, and his wife, Josie, of Banta; great-grandchildren, Dairian, Casey and Lauryn Silva, all of Tracy, Chloe and Andrew Silva, of Stockton, Christopher, Ashley and Travis Nelson, all of Ripon, and Miranda, Nicholas and Jacob Myers, all of Ripon; sister, Belmeda Souza; loving friend, Maggie Damasceno; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous relatives in Banta, Manteca and Modesto areas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joe P. Silva; parents, Frank and Mary Leal; grandson, Richy Silva; great-granddaughter, Kelsey Myers; father- and mother-in-law, Joe and Maria Silva; brother Frank Leal; brothers- in-law, George Souza, Joe Terra, John Castro, Tony Silva, Manuel Castro, and his wife, Mary, and John Silva, and his wife, Mary; and sister-in-law Theresa Silva. Wednesday’s Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Visitation will be observed from noon to 2 p.m. today at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., followed by a recital of a rosary at 7 p.m. Contributions in Mrs. Silva’s name may be sent to St. Bernard’s Building Fund, 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy 95376.
