Born in Santa Rosalia, Baja California South, Mexico, Mrs. Leyva lived in various places over the years in order to be with her children, and recently returned to Tracy. Mrs. Leyva enjoyed singing, knitting and crocheting. She liked to travel, read and watch Mexican soap operas. A parishioner of the Catholic church, she was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan and loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Mrs. Leyva is survived by her children, Genovevo Leyva, and his wife, Maria, of Tracy, Alicia Castro, and her husband, Arturo, Ana Higuera, and her husband, Miguel, all of Salinas, and Juan Leyva, and his wife, Feliza, of Calexico; siblings, Vicenta Garcia, Juana Rivera and Francisco Nunez, all of Mexicali, Mexico; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Juan Leyva. Tuesday’s Mass will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Visitation will be observed from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave, with a rosary to follow at the chapel. Interment will be in Tracy Cemetery.
