Born in Raiano, Italy, at the age of 3, Mr. Liberatore and his parents moved to Chicago where he attended schools and became a devoted Chicago Cubs fan. He was an avid bowler. He even set pins in Chicago while attending high school and later managed and promoted many bowling centers in the Bay Area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as Pvt. Primo Dominic Liberatore in September 1943. In 1948, Mr. Liberatore moved to San Francisco and opened Primo’s Tavern. In the late 1960s, he became owner and proprietor of L & L Lanes in Sebastopol where he promoted youth bowling for the Redwood Empire and raised funds to support the youths in tournaments and pay for travel expenses. In 1987, Mr. Liberatore moved to Tracy to be closer to his family and promoted bowling travel leagues and tournaments within the Central Valley. Mr. Liberatore was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation Branch 390 in Tracy. In 1994, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and actively volunteered with the WIBC Championship Tournament and became a member of the Foster Grandparent organization where he helped with reading and mathematics at Edison Elementary School. He later moved to Boise in December 2005 to be closer to his family. Mr. Liberatore is survived by his daughters, René Hopkins, and her husband, Michael, of Boise, and Sandra Tyner, and her husband, Jon, of Tracy; sister, Claire Blasco of Chicago; grandchildren, Melanie and Sean Hopkins, of Boise, and Desireé and Kevin Tyner of Tracy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Achille and Mariannina Liberatore; and sister, Lena Dallio. Saturday’s Mass will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Symphorosa in Chicago. Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Ill.
