Raymond was born on April 3, 1928 in Memphis, Texas. Raymond drove truck for American Forrest Products (Stockton Box) for 32 years, and after his retirement he went to work for St. Joseph's Medical Center where he drove the truck for the Carevan Clinic for 5 years. Raymond belonged to the Teamsters Union Local 439 and was a very proud Union member. He was a long time supporter of the City of Stockton Softball Association, and in 1987 he was presented with an appreciation award from the Board of Directors Softball Association. Raymond served during the Korean War where he received the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. Raymond is survived by his companion, Alice Tracy; his children, Bruce Long of Texas, Kathy Manzito of Arkansas, David (Ben) Beal, Janice Ferguson, Virginia Patterson, Kelly Bryant, Suzy Long, William (Bill) Long, Rex Beal, Phyllis Beal and Dean Long, all of Stockton; his siblings, Curtis Long, William (Bill) Long, Louise Hostetter, Shirley Cox, Alton Long, Dennis Long, Dorothy Morey, Elaine Obaskey and Irene Hamilton; 32 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Dona Ruth Long; his parents, Curtis Walter and Ednar Lee Long; his sisters, Margaret Harp and Betty Hyatt; his grandchildren, Michael Patterson, Sarah Patterson, Chris Ferguson and Heather Deaton and his son-in-law Michael A. Patterson. Visitation will be held at the Wallace-Martin Funeral Home located at 520 N Sutter Street in Stockton on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, 12:00-7:00 p.m., and a Celebration of Raymond's Life will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 2:30 p.m. at Discovery Freewill Baptist Church located at 10900 N Highway 99 Frontage Road in Stockton. Raymond will be privately laid to rest with his wife, Dona Ruth Long at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, California.
