Mrs. Maltoni was born in Hawaii. She celebrated her birthday May 22, 23 and 24. She was a committed worker in every part of her life and enjoyed a career with PanAm for more than 20 years. After she moved to San Francisco, she began a second career as an immigration officer at San Francisco International Airport. Her work ethic and perseverance helped her to advance to Assistant Port Director with Immigration and Naturalization Services. She later became chief when INS was incorporated into the Department of Homeland Security, which was the position she had at the time of her death. She enjoyed singing, playing guitar and organ, traveling, reading and dancing. Mrs. Maltoni had a black belt in judo and was a sharpshooter and a pilot. She loved dogs. She also expressed her creativity by renovating and remodeling homes. Her husband worked with her on many projects, and the two traveled the world together often. Although the swiftness of Mrs. Maltoni’s death shocked all who knew her, the family feels that she would have considered it a blessing that it was so fast. Mrs. Maltoni is survived by her children, Marc Maltoni of Virginia, Joseph Hubbard, of Texas, Mickey Maltoni of Utah, Armida “D.D.” Leigh of Philippines and Mahlon Hubbard of Tracy; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Louis. Saturday’s memorial service will begin at noon at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel, 1111 Alameda De Las Pulgas, in Belmont, followed by a reception. Contributions in Mrs. Maltoni’s name may be sent to Bay Area Poodle Rescue, 1442 A Walnut Street No. 204, Berkeley 94709. Published on Friday, January 06, 2006, in the Tracy Press.
