Ruby was born in Adair County, Iowa, and moved to Tracy with her husband and children after they visited friends from Iowa who had moved here. They bought a grocery, Tracy Garden Market on Corral Hollow Road, and ran it from 1957 to 1961. Ruby worked at Laura Scudder’s Snack Foods until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Christian Friendship Club. She enjoyed getting together once a month with her Laura Scudder’s group for lunch and playing bingo four times a week. She loved her family get-togethers. She recently celebrated her 85th birthday with 40 people, including her family and people from as far away as Iowa. She will be remembered as a loving mother, wonderful grandmother and good friend to many. Ruby is survived by her children, Rex Bakerink, and his wife, Sandy, of Foothill Ranch, Colo., Archie Bakerink, and his wife, Joy, of Tracy, Lauretta Jo Clemons, and her husband, Chuck, and Dell Bakerink, all of San Mateo; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail Bakerink, in 1975; and her brother, Dell Means. Saturday’s services will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., and will be presided over by the Rev. Michael Birnbaum of Texas. Visitation will be observed from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Interment will be in Tracy Cemetery.
