Mr. Mesta was born in Los Angeles, and he lived 20 years in Tracy. He retired as a forklift operator after 25 years. Mr. Mesta will be remembered for his kind and giving heart, his devoted love for his family and his love of music. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Mesta is survived by his companion of 20 years, Donna Mercado of Tracy; children, Rita Valderrama, Virginia Mesta, Norman Lopez and Danny Mesta, all of San Jose, Julia Aguirre of Sacramento, Della Mercado of Ceres and Ignacio Mesta of Tracy; siblings, Paula Celano of Tracy, Carmen Salas of Manteca, Benito Mesta of Visalia and Manuel Mesta of Modesto; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Mesta. Friday’s services will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave. Visitation will be observed from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel that same day. Interment will be in Tracy Cemetery. Published on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, in the Tracy Press.
