A native of Vallejo and the son of Chut and Ruby Minner, he grew up in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School in 1965. As an Army chief warrant officer from 1968 to 1972, he served as a gunship helicopter pilot in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star with “V” for valor, 37 Air Medals and two Purple Hearts. After returning from the service, he attended the University of California, Riverside and then received his medical degree from UC San Francisco in 1978. For the past 25 years, Dr. Minner had been a primary-care physician in Tuolumne County, first in the emergency room of Sonora Community Hopital and then in private practice in Groveland and most recently in Twain Harte. After living 20 years in Miwuk Village, he had lived the last five years in Twain Harte. Dr. Minner was a member of the Tuolumne County Medical Society and was president of the board of directors of the Twain Harte Golf Course. He also enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his former spouse, Denise Minner of San Diego; son Josh Minner of Santa Cruz; daughters Megan Aymond and her husband, Justin, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Hannah Minner of San Diego; mother, Ruby Minner of Tracy; brother, Larry Minner of Tracy; sister, Kathy Jones of Tracy; step-son, Jacob Fear and his wife, Jenean, of San Diego; two step-grandchildren, Trever and Travis Fear, both of San Diego; and close friends, Pat Fisher of Twain Harte and Jack Robinson of Sonora. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia Minner, and his father, Chut Minner. A celebration of life is pending at Twain Harte Golf Course.
