Mary went to our Lord on Tuesday, March 29, 2005. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. May was born June 14, 1923 in Tamazula Jalisco Mexico in a little community known as "El Paso del Ganado" to Marcelino Gutierrez and Rafaela Vilanueva. She moved to Stockton, California as a baby and lived with her 7 siblings in Boggs Tract. She graduated from Stockton High School and retired from Stockton Unified School district as a Cafeteria Worker. Mary was an active Bingo Player and loved the slot machines and dancing Cumbia's with her Mexican music. She was a loving and cherished mother, devoted daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, caring sister and faithful friend. Mary is survived by her daughter, Lydia Alva O'Sullivan of Dublin and two sons, Joe Mariscal and Steven Gutierrez of Stockton and loving companion of 25 years, Joe Guzman and his 4 wonderful children, Carol Guzman of Fresno, Aaron Guzman, Nina Denton and Andy Guzman, all of Stockton; Mary was blessed with 5 adoring grandchildren and 5 beautiful great-grandchildren; several cousins; nephews; nieces and dear friends. She is also survived by her brothers, Louis, Joe and David Perez of Stockton and Albert Gutierrez of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her mother Rafaela Medina; sister, Dolores G. Castanon; brothers, Frank Gutierrez, Tony V. Gutierrez and Benny Perez. Visitation will be Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at De Young Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St. A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 203 E. Washington St. followed by Committal at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
