Richard L. McClure, Jr. 
May 19, 1940 - March 16, 2005



Richard L. McClure, Jr, 64, of Ames, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 
Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA. He was born May 19, 1940 in Oklahoma 
City, OK, the son of Richard Lee and Margaret (Staven) McClure. He graduated 
from high school in Stockton, CA. Richard was united in marriage to Linda 
Elaine Ewing in 1962. Linda died in 1968. He later married Patricia Second in 
1970 and they divorced in 1995. He retired from the US Air Force, having served 
3 tours of duty in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. After his career in 
the Air Force, Richard worked from 1985 to 2001 for the Stockton Library 
system. He was member of the Ames American Legion and was an avid stamp 
collector.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher (Cynthia Ann) McClure 
of Ames, IA; a daughter, Suzette Steers of Stockton, CA; a brother, Donald 
McClure of Portland, OR and an uncle, Donald Staven of Janesville, WI. His 
parents and first wife preceded him death.
Richard has been cremated. Inurnment of cremains will take place at the Oakwood 
Memorial Cemetery in Santa Cruz, CA.
The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory, Nevada, Iowa, 515-382-2661 is in charge 
of arrangements.
