Rose McCollum 
Rose McCollum, 84, of Galt, died July 1 in her home following a four year 
battle with cancer. She was born Rose Merrit on Feb. 7, 1921, in Cinncinatti, 
Ohio.

Mrs. McCollum moved to Fremont in 1958 and then to Galt in 1984. She owned an 
antique shop and also volunteered for the school district. She attended St. 
Christopher's Catholic Church, St. Luke's Episcopal, and Galt United Methodist 
Churches. She was a former member of the Women of Moose. She enjoyed writing, 
painting, crafts, knitting, bingo and going to Tahoe. 

She is survived by her sons, Nick and Rodney; daughter, Patricia; sister, Ruth; 
five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick in 1972; brothers, James, 
George, Paul and Earl; and sisters, Jeannette and Virginia.

Services are pending. Interment will be held at Irvington Cemetery in Fremont.

Ben Salas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
