She was 83. Mrs. Monton was born in the Philippines and lived in San Joaquin County for more than 50 years. She was a retired registered nurse, having served 33 years at the San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp. She graduated from the Philippine Normal College and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Manila, Philippines. Mrs. Monton enjoyed reading, writing, decorating cakes, making floral arrangements, gardening and traveling. Her writing was featured in several national and international publications, and she authored a book of poetry, "Wings of Delight", which was published with a copyright in 1999. Mrs. Monton traveled extensively, setting foot in five continents. Some of her favorite destinations included Jerusalem, Rome, Iceland, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, London, Barcelona and Lourdes, France. Mrs. Monton was a member of several organizations, including the Worshipful Teodora Alonzo Lode #123 of the Legionarios del Trabajo, the Filipino Women's Club, Carcar Brotherhood Association, Manuel Roxas Post #798 Auxiliary, Calape Sons of America, CTC Aid Association, the United Aid of Sibonga and the Filipino-American National Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Fructuoso Y. Monton. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Monton Robinson of Lathrop; her grandchildren, Kalia Abiade and her husband, Dr. Jeremiah Abiade of Greensboro, NC, Rashaad Robinson of Jacksonville, FL and Tasheena Robinson of Lathrop; her dear friends and longtime neighbors, Vicky and Stan McElyea and Cecilia Beltran and a wide circle of family and friends. Friends are invited to attend the Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Palms Funeral Home, 303 S. Califonria St., Stockton, followed by services conducted under the auspices of the Grand Lodge Legionarios del Trabajo in America, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 23 at 9:30 a.m. at St. George's Church, 120 W. 5th Street, Stockton. Visitation will be Monday, 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Committal at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
